Hi Nic,

Personally I don't think Discus are very good for a community tank.

They are fine with a school of cardinals and rummy noses, and perhaps a few BN's (although I haven't had much luck with these)

Discus are expensive and have very particular requirements. If you want a community tank with lots of different species, I think it would be better to do so without discus.

I know what it's like when you start out. You see all of these cool fish and want to keep them. I did this myself, but in order to keep discus in an optimum condition requires feeding and water parameters that do not suit many other species, and as a result I have had alot of very unsuccesful attempts at keeping other species with Discus - BNs, SAEs, Blue Rams, chain loaches, and a whiptail RIP :(

There might be others on this forum who have managed to keep community tanks with Discus, and I can only speak from personal experience.

but I reackon you need to work out what you want: Discus, or a community tank.

any catfish with long wiskers is a nocternal hunter, dont stress your fish while they're trying to sleep

also, Pictus are quite fast swimmers and very active much like salmon tail cat fish, theses guys will eat smaller fish, i dont think they aggressively go after them but, if one happens to be right in front of it ...OM NOM NOM

iv kept them in the past i had 2 or 4 of them back in 1990 ish..
