How old is too old

I have a pair of Blue Diamond who bred last year and have 1 "just 1" baby after many looses due to many reasons
They havent bred for a least 12 months so i am in the process of pairing them with differend adults, i have put the female with another blue diamond about two and a half years old 16cm in lenght (Male "i hope"). no luck yet 4 weeks together apart from a bit of cone cleaning.
My question is to what age can they breed before they are too old?

i have fish over 6 years old who still spawn, females produce less eggs but males seem fine, as long as you keep up a good diet.
