My brother keeps 5 of them in a tank with other af/am cichlids. If the conditions are right they can grow between 5-6 inches and have gorgeous yellow and pink stripes on there body. They are agressive and swim around the tank very fast.
The short answer is 'don't keep them with discus'

Interesting.

I wouldn't think that they would differ much in dehavour to a SAE in terms of darting around the tank and size of fish.

My discus wasn't bothered by my SAEs when I had them.

In general terms most barbs are fin nippers, I'd be worried about putting them with discus.

Torpedo barbs are so expensive and rare I'd suggest they would need a dedicated set up up to be safe.
Absolutely lovely fish ....

The price doesn't really bother me taksan... I keep discus which cost more then the barb although I have to agree that they are pretty rare.

Illusn - fin nipping might be a problem which I hadn't thought off.

I have had 3 with my discus for years now. Never a problem. They are one of my favorite fish.

On a side note what do you guys pay for one around 2" over there?

I will get some as soon as my budget allows I think. Want to buy Co2 first.

Best price I have found for about 4-5cm is $40.
