Extra Filtration

Hi, just wondering what the point of extra filtration is? More fish? Less water changes? I have seen people on this forum with 3 eheim canister filters!

I currently have a 300L tank with a Fluval 405 (400L) canister, and soon to add a large sponge filter capable of 480L. What will be the benefits of adding in the sponge filter?

You can't over filter a system imo.
