I am (again) pleased to annouce the arrival of a new brood of Apistogramma courtesy of a recently aquired pair of A. jurensis (German) which emerged late this morning January 4th here in Melbourne. A quick check of the PH showed values below 6 so I checked again with an alternate test-kit (checks from PH 3 to 10) which showed the PH value around 5. I am aboviously surprised by this and will check again soon. The parents, not that large themselves, produced a brood of approx 40+ tiny fry. Microworms have been added and hopefully they will develop well.

A 2nd female also occupying the tank has become quite reclusive so this tank is being closely watched.

My A. gibbiceps (emerged November 4th) are growing wonderfully and some will soon be leaving home.

The A. stiendachneri (emerged November 10th) are growing well albeit slowly.

The A.cacatuoides (emerged November 14th) double reds are also growing well with a recently observed growth spurt no doubt due to the blackworms and mosquito larvae upon which they have been feasting.
