Hi All

Just wondering how often people are running their air stones etc?

I used to have mine only running when the lights came on (About 3-4 hours a day) but since I have added a few more discus I've been running it 24/7... Is this wise? Opinions, thoughts?

Hi swingn, If you are not running CO2 (which is a whole other story) then there is no reason why you cannot run your airstone 24/7. I do and have no issues at all.. :D :D (in my discus and african tanks)

Discus come from waters with high oxygen levels, so as far as your tank is concerned, you can never have too much oxygen.

A lot of people don't realize that plants actually use up oxygen and release carbon dioxide during the hours of darkness. It's only during the hours when the lights are on that your plants are making oxygen and taking in carbon dioxide.

I run airstones on every one of my tanks 24/7.

Agree.... keep the O2 pumping!
