Hi folks, do discus colors change, or get deeper from juvi to adult? I'm going to look tomorrow at a 3" blue diamond, and is the color that I see going to be the same a year from now?

Blue diamonds are one of the earliest breeds to colour up, so it should be pretty easy.

The main thing with blue diamonds is that they shouldn't have any sign of bars on the body. 'B' grade fish will have a black bar just where the caudal fin (tail) meets the body. 'A' grade fish never have that.

Look for a nice red small red eye, and a round body shape. A deep colour is good,. but it will intensify with good feeding as the fish matures.

There is a thread called 'then & now' showing how colours and shape have developed over time. Might be worth a look.
