I will be shortly setting up a 6" x 28' X 30' tank for Discus.

I was thinking of using pool filter sand as a substrate but I have 12 15kg bags of Zelbrite (zeolite pool filter media) http://www.zelbrite.com/ sitting in the shed so I thought it might work in a discus tank ? It looks good in a smaller tank.

I have used it before as filter media with African rift lake cichlids with good results.

Has anyone used it before ?

Any oppinions on using it or not ?

Thanks

Tumbo

Looks like i've answered my own question- The PH has jumped from 7 to 7.8 in a couple of days.

Well your africans would love that, but your discus wouldn't so I guess the answer is 'no'.
