Fat Lipped Discus

HI, I have a pigeon blood discus with fat lips! I first noticed a slight swelling on Monday and yesterday the discus stopped feeding and the lips had swelled more. The lips look like they have a small blood discharge. The other 6 discus are all very health and one pair is breeding.

Any idea's what causes this and how to treat it?

That's really unusual Stuart.

Sometimes fish that sift through sharp gravel will sustain damage to the lips, even blood streaks.

Another possibility is that discus (and most cichlids) sometimes lock jaws when fighting. It usually only affects the lower lip, but with your fish, it sounds like the upper and lower lips are swollen.

Any possibility of posting a pic ? It may give us some further ideas.
