Reds and yellows are not the easiest colours to breed because the fish don't darken the way blue based fish do, however it can be done.

Marlboro reds and pigeon based yellows will show more peppering when they're breeding so they do give the appearance of being darker, however it's important to cover the sides and back of the breeding tank with light blue and cover any dark things, like the heater top or the sponge filter, with white cotton filter floss, so the parents become the darkest objects in the tank.

Fry are programmed to head for the darkest object, which should be their parents, so carefully prepare the tank before their arrival and you'll find them just as easy to breed as the darker colours.
