Hi everyone.. my name is Jason and I've recently joined this forum.
I'm from North Ringwood in Melbourne's eastern suburbs.

I've been keeping and breeding African Cichlids for the past 7 years and have now decided to try my hand at keeping Discus and maybe even breed some down the track.

I have found this site to be a wealth of information and I'm learning heaps about these magnificent fish. Hopefully I'll be able to contribute a little as I gain more experience.

I currently have just the 1 Blue Turq which is about 6-7cm.
Unfortunately I lost my lovely Red Malboro
Hoping to add a couple more similar size companions for my Blue Turq to socialize with soon.

Welcome to the forums Jason.
Sorry to hear about your Red Malboro mate. You def need to get some friends for your turq ASAP. What sort of setup are you running? Pics are always good too....(wink wink) ;)

Matt15.. since you asked...LOL...

My setup is a 36x14x18 (std 3fter), bare bottom, driftwood with anubias, and some floating plants. Currently running a large sponge filter and an internal power filter, 200w heater and single 3ft light.

Tank mates are 2 apple snails and a few neon tetras, although I think its a bit too hot for the neons at 30 degrees.

Anyway here are some pics of my red malboro (RIP buddy), blue turq and the tank setup. Hoping to upgrade to a 4ft tank with cannister filter within the next couple of months.

Hi Jason, welcome to the forum. You will get tots of good advice here, as well as striaght talking too.

The Melon/Golden was a super fish, I would be happy withthat one on my tank for sure. The other guy looks quite stunted though, but if it is happy, and you are, then that's ok
I like your tank set-up too, and that temp is fine for Neons/cardinals, the ones in my tanks have lasted for 2 years +, and as Matt says, you need some friends for your 1 fish. Discus do very well in groups of 5-6 as they are naturally shoaling fish. Check out the sponsors for info if you are buying more. Tip, get your stock from one source, and quarentine new fish.

Good luck
