Thanks guys!
kalebjarrod. I have four 4ft tanks, a 3ft tank and a 6*2*2. Soon they will all be devoted to discus. As for filtration, atm I have a fluval 404 on that tank, however soon it will be running from one central filtration unit which links all my 4ft tanks together. If you look in the 4th picture down, in the right cornor of the tank you can see a sponge. It covers the intake of my overflow system, which leads down into a sump all the tanks run on.

luvmydiscus. The background is 3D. Its made of polystyrene and I picked it up from my LFS for $20. It came in 2 peices and I cut it down to acomidate my filter system.

Merry Cristmas everyone

Discusdude,
Pls be carefull if you are using one central filter system. Of course there are some plus points such as :
- Practicallity (in handling, cleaning, etc).
- More economical (instead of using several pump/powerhead, we can
just using 1 pump/powerhead).
But the minus point is clear that if you have one sick fish in one of the tank, the rest of your fishes will soon become infected.
Hope that you think it over and over again. Of course you can use this system, but make sure that all of your fishes are in good health and never add new fishes into one of the tank, without put the new fishes in quarantine first (separated from the tanks).
Okay!

best regards,

i agree in general terms but with a strict QT period and saftey measures like valves to colse of tanks and sponges seeded and ready for emergency use it can be pratical in a home hobby sense. sometimes our love of fish is not equal to available finace, EXTRA CARE MUST BE TAKEN

commercially it would be a foul, stupid and irrispondsable to recommend

discusdude, got a pick of your sump and filter setup, love setup shots they get me goin!

discusdude and kalebjarrod, any chance we may all be jealous of the sump pictures,

personally i am thinking of doing the same sort of thing with my fish house (a sump system currently its airdriven individual sponge filters with one big air blower) and i would like to include uv, a protein skimmer and a fluidized bed filter

pictures would be great, also any words of personal experience would be appreciated (personal mail is fine) sorry don't mean to hijack this thread, just a big diy fan

thanks
