Hey,
I just recently got 4 ruby red discus. They are in a 85 gallon tank by themselves. It is pretty much a barebottom tank with just a tiny bit of gravel just to cover the bottom. Anyways the fish are eating bloodworms and swimming around but they have the vertical stress bars and they havnt gone away since i got them. Is this normal? I am new to discus and just want to make sure they are not too stressed. As you can see in the picture all three of the fish are showing vertical stress bars.

There is no way of telling if they are stressed or not, Tell us what your water parameters are and the parameters of where you got them. If this is different, then yes, they could be stressed because they are adjusting to your water conditions.
I wouldn't call them Ruby Reds either, they are Leopards.

Agree with Hollowman, they are Leapordskin's not ruby reds. From the pictures they don't look stressed, what makes you feel that they are ? A bit of stress bars would certainly show on for a month or so till they absolutely feel at home.
