View Full Version : Fire-eel with Discus.. anyone ?

Has anyone tried to have a fire-eel tankmate with Discus ? Heard that fire-eel are very peaceful fishes, really ?

Personal, no. Do people combine them, yep. Big fire eels will make a meal of any small fish like tetras though. Try getting a small fire eel to grow up in the tank, may not help though. Also, dont think the fire eels will handle the lowest of discus PH. 6 - 7 will suit.

I had a peacock eel in with my discus for about 3years without any hassels. There from the same family and look very similar but grow to less than half the size (about 12-15 inch). Mine did fine with the high temps and ate the same food as the discus. but unfortunatley when I changed to eco complete substrate it died within 2weeks.

I think if there is any doubt........then I wouldn't bother.
Why risk your discus??? :roll:
