Fitting a extra filter

I have a aqua one 980 with its own filter in the top (a type of wet dry trickle filter) and I want to fit a canister filter as well .Has anyone got any tips on how to alter the top with out it looking to makeshift a job and also is there any problems with putting a new filter in a established tank

hey i have a AR 980 horriable tank to work on but oh well. i bought a aqua one CF-1200 canister filter that i dropped the plumbing straight through the hole in the back of the hood and fired it up. i was running both filters for about 2 months then i unpluged the hood filter and ran off the canister. good luck Phill.
