hi all

ph was only slightly low on my 200 l tank

so i added some ph up only about a thumb nails worth

now the smaller discus are hangining round top sometimes

a month ago i added some ph up and i think thats what killed my small discus

am i adding to much and if so what can i do to stabalize discus if they are sick

i did routine water change yesterday then at night i tested water so i had to add ph up

i did another water change this morning

should i just stick to water changes or maybe add some aquarium salt

thanks

too low isnt usually a problem for discus (unless it goes below 4) i'd just do normal water changes.

whens the last time you cleaned your filter? a buildup of organics in there can lead to a ph drop (or crash).

if you need to buffer your water, put a couple of tsp of crushed coral into a mesh bag and stick that in your filter.

they got cleaned one month ago

water is always good just ph drops from 7 to 6.6 or 6.8 so i have just noticed both times ive added ph up in the past the smaller discuses look sick

im not sure how much ph up or down powder is too much

ill do daily wter changes see if they liven up

6.6-6.8 is ok why you need the ph up  leave it alone as long the ph dont drop below 5 like illusn said

purigen is a purly chemical filtration media, you'll need some bio media in there to keep your fish happy.
