Hi i'm from toronto and have a celler in my basement I want to set up as a discus hatchery. There are 10,000,000 things to research but thats part of the fun:)
I am thinking about a central filtration system. How does something like this look?

How many breeding pairs could it support, counting the grow out tanks.

For RO filtering how about something like this?,

Does anyone use RO/DI or just RO? Should i add the RO waste water to bring the Ph to proper range or use tapwater to do that, or something else. i'll use a natural gas heater to heat the whole room to keep the tanks warm. i'll still use airstones in all tanks. i want a auto water change system as well.
i'm sure i'll have many mnay questions over the next few years
Please ask me questions as to what i have in mind or suggestions you have and gradually the final plan will take shape.
Here's a pic of one of my sea horses, I have a saltwater tank as well.

nice filtration system, i'm against central systems for one simple reason, disease, your fish WILL eventually get sick. with individual sytems this can be contained.

as for grow outs, i like to hve 800L of grow out tanks/pair of breeders (say 1x 125L for the pair and 2x400L for fry), that way you can manage and grow out your fry, I'm now moving to 1000L per pair, cause mine keep spawning.

I dont use RO I prefer rain water, its soft and still has some minerals where as ro has none.
