Hi too triumph1921...
Yes i fed them with beef heart (Spirulina added and Astaxanthin for red fish) sometimes...but not every day...coz i don't want them to grow too thick...
My key for the body shape beside the gene factor are food and water changes...
Super Grade Frozen Bloodworm (5-7 times daily) to shape their round body, beef heart to gain their thickness and 100% daily water changes to keep them fit and healthy...
Once they grow to 3" inches up, then I only fed them 3-4 times daily... Stop the beef heart and give them Frozen Bloodworm and TetraBits for daily snack to maintain their color until they reach 5" inch or adult size...
U'll see the difference when u do this...

Actually the golden melons are accidentally non-colored :) i ran out of Astaxanthin, and the melons grow bigger and bigger without coloration... and the result... I Love Them Better... :)

I don't quite know either FNQ, probably because the BSS ( Blue Scorpion Snakeskin ) is quite similar with Blue diamond, Cobalt, and Solid Blue... which in other hand those strains are cheaper than BSS...

The differences between those other strain is that BSS have 14 stress bar, the snakeskin pattern shown only in their face and fins... and the body is a solid blue coloured without pattern at all, so pretty much the same.

But for me, physical shape is my main consideration for selecting strains, i love them all... especially high bodied discus.

Santoso

@ipiasente :
Let's hope then... hehehe. Thx for the information too...
I've checked the site that u gave (www.oafi.cjb.net) and based on the physical shape of the head, forehead & mouth, those fish are also from Indonesia... if I'm not been mistaken, those are TREND or INTI AQUARIUM (Medan, North Sumatra) fish...

Hi there friend,
Just an ordinary fish I have...
I think any discus strain will grow nicely if the early selection and the keeping method are correct... but thx a lot for the lovely comment...
