Hi,
I am new to discus and just found out my discus is lying eggs on the filter intake tube. Is it possible to move the egg to my hospital tank together with the pair? Or wait until they become fry?
THanks a lot.

cheers,
jon

Hey jon

If this is the first time laying eggs in your tank let them lay eggs a few more times and after about the 3rd time or so give them their own tank and see how it goes but at this stage i would't do anything with them right now.

With the eggs that close to the opening of the filter intake, it's unlikely they will be fertilized. Most of the milt produced by the male will have been drawn into the filter before it's had time to do any good.

Let them practice a few more times before moving them into a breeding tank, and you'll have a more successful spawn.

A lot of fish like to spawn on the intake tube. It must resemble a nice strong green leaf or something, so the easiest thing to do is give them a spare one in the breeding tank to use as a spawning post (obviously not connected to a filter LOL )

Good luck. You're on the right track.
