Hi all i have this horrid isopod Livoneca symmetrica( Isopod parasite ) in my tank on my pleco's my discus are in the same tank, any one treated this parasite befor if anyone has can you tell me how you got on and with what did you treated them with.
I no this web link has a Treatment but like to get a feed back befor i treat.

I reckon you PP the things.
10mg/L for 10 min or as long as the fish will take it.

give them a 10 minute bath in potasium permangenate. dosage is 10mg/L. watch them carefully if they show distress take them out.

There is a VERY fine line between killing just the paracites, and killing the paracites & THE FISH!

Don't use organophosphates such as trichlorfon, they will kill your pleocs.

Cupramine or other copper based meds may work seeing as they are a crustacean.

The link says manual removal is the best way to deal with them.

Good news got them of with tweezers got them of 3 of my fish 2 bristle nose and another pleco got about 11 in all , have treated the water with parasite remover just hope they don’t come back.
