Hi

I would like to put rocks in my tank. possibly looking like this for my discus.

By the looks of it, I am just wondering if my tank can take such weight. I will put gravel on the base. But does anyone have any advice? Im afraid the rocks might crack the base.

Hi, rocks of that size should be fine, ive had rocks 4-5 times larger in my africian tanks. Place them ontop of the substrate so as the load of the rock is spread over a wider patch. You should have no hassels.

They should be fine, check them with some HCL first to make sure they wont leach carbonates into your water, granite based rocks like the pick should be ok.

you could lay athin piece of polystryene between the rock and glass then place your substrate over this, sharp edges on rocks that are moved against glass can lead to scratchs that weaken the glass
