hi all. so i've been thinking of this set up and would like to know what you guys think.would a pondmaster 36W uv connected to an eheim 2215, no media, just water running thru, be a good fit? ideally, i'd like the water flow to be slow enough for the uv to work at its best and thought that with the 2215 the flow should be fairly slow, or would adding media be better. i've already got sufficient filtration, just thought i'd run this filter exclusively with the uv

2217 would be better 600L/h instead of 400L/hour.

put some corse and fine sponge in there to catch any particulate matter, uv works best at the end of filtration when the water is at it's clearest and cleanest.

if you were going to rtun your uv this way an eheim water pump would be cheaper then a 2215.

Yeah get a compact 1000 and run it @ 50%

I am doing the same thing, that is running an old 2215 for my UV and surface skimmer. Works well. My UV is only 11w though. I have only course and fine filter pads in the 2215 as well. My tank is 280l.

Cheers
Scott

ok, getting an eheim pump as recommended by taksan. i assume i would still have to add a sponge filter or something to it to catch debris instead of it letting it run thru the UV ?

no the pump has a built in prefilter, just remember to change the sponge in it every 6 months or so.
