always had problems with algae of one kind or another, but started dosing dry fertilizer about a week ago now and it has made a big improvement already, the algae is starting to go and plant growth is amazing :)

'm using a dry fertilizer mix i brought as a group buy that someone organised on the aquariumlife forum recently. the mix is called Podron pond trace ellements mixed by a company called simplegrow in N.S.W
the mix has , manganese, zinc, copper, Boron, Molybdenum, and Iron. "not sure what % though. it's a Micro mix. to make a mix up am using 10grams per 500mls of water then dosing 10mls per approx 270ltrs every second day and dosing dupla drops "macro's" on the days i dont dose the dry mix. + using double strength seachem excell and pressurized Co2.

i even had beard algae growing on the substrate that was really annoying me and couldn't get rid of it and ate up my $50's worth of HC but since dosing the above all is clear, maybe time to try HC again :)

plants list is Echinodorus Paul Kloekner, ozelot sword but u cant see it in the pics, blyxa, Aponogenton bullosus, tonina belem, various crypts, balansae, mayaca, tiger lotus, frilly Echinodorus ? Telenthera, bacopa, thats about all i can name...

P.S. name what u want and i'll see what i can do for u Illusion http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v402/KharmaKazi/thumb.gif

look forward to seeing some pics.

been doing some changes to mine again so no pics till it's done, trimmed and replanted the tonina, pulled a lot of the blyxa and replaced with glosso. added some higher light plants, getting rid of the tiger lotus's.
and also added another 104 watts of T5 lighting.

three questions.....lol!

1. whats your bps?
2. airstone at nighttime or no?
3. how much iron do you dose, and how often?

Thanks very much

Your new fishies look great! I bet they really "pop" in the tank :D

Good luck...things look great!

Hey Eric
# 1 = approx 2 bps
# 2 = run airstone when lights are off
# 3 = i now use dry ferts for micros which has iron in it so every second day with iron and every other day with macros.

loving the new fish, but there not in this tank :) iv'e re-planted the 4 ft tank again so there in there, putting the Co2 setup from this tank on the 4ft as soon as i get another reg and getting a Ph controller for this tank next week for this tank and another reg. so hoping it will improve even more...

Thanks Rob

My dry trace fert has iron in it as well, but Ive read around, if you have decent plant growth, and good co2, you can add 1-3mL of seachem iron...just wondering if you did anything like that or not

Im about 2bps, airstone at night, and once a week, when I dose traces, I dose an extra 1-2mL of seachem iron

It sounds like you have a lot going on! Which means....some great new pics soon! haha....cant wait! Keep it up!

fish_r...I am interested in getting some ferts..I currently do not dose any ferts at all, although use eco-complete however have noticed over the last month plant growth has slowed slightly...What can you tell us more about the ferts...I think I tried to lookup the place however no luck...How much did you have to buy ?

hey Rob
we got it as a group buy on http://www.aquariumlife.com.au/ organised by a user called Stealth, i think altogether the order was 10kg split up into 500gm and 1kg packs. "i got 1kg" not sure if u can buy small quantities or not, but give them a ring and they will soon let u know. as mentioned above it's called Podron pond trace elliments.
