Hi guys Ive been in the hobby for a while now dealt with a Hex, bred discus. Im in relax mode with my Discus now.
I do weekly regular water changes, for the past few years Ive been really enjoying the hobby. With out a drama.
Today I woke up and notice one was hanging near the bottom with one eye really Bulging out.I did a water change about four days ago. I used a new water ager made by my LFS>>>

What is this popeye thing :?:
How did it get here :?:
How do you treat it please :?: :?:
Im about to check water parameters now>>>
Im going to put some salt in the tank , water change Tommorrow, should I quarentine the fish :?:

Any info would be greatly appreciated...

popeye is a nasty disease, i believe it's bacterial, i've lost a couple of Betta's to it a few years back.

i believe Octozin is effective against bloat and popeye if treated early, but you might need to up the dose abit.

If its Bacterial is Tetracycle an alternative.

chris tetracycline is an antibotic and therefore may help if bacterial disease
it will be chelated in hard water and does not like exposure to uv light

if you are interested search the forum for the word exopthalmus(just scientific way of saying protruding eye/pop eye) so is just describing the condition, i have written a little about topical treatment in unilateral case's
