Hi Everyone,

I am looking to get a UV to help control the occasional green water outbreaks in my planted tank. Can someone give me some recommendations on a decent brand at a reasonable price?

My requirements are:

1. Tank size of 350 litres. What wattage would do the job?
2. Must run external so I can hook it up in the cabinet.
3. I want to run it stand alone. ie. Not part of my filter return.

Any advice or recommendations would be really appreciated.

Cheers,
Mark

Mark, I think just about all of the UV systems available now are pretty good.

I used to think De Barry was the bees knees, but I've also got Pondmaster UVs on some of the tanks and they work just as well.

I think the main thing is stay away from the real cheapies, get one big enough to do the job, and whichever one you choose, make sure you can readily get replacement globes, because you will need to change globes regularly.

Thanks Merrilyn,

I ordered myself a pondmaster yesterday and it was delivered this morning so I am good to go. Will hook it up tonight and see how the green water looks in a few days. :-)

Mark
