Best local breeder to buy discus.

Hi,

I have been in the aquarium hobby for a very long time however, I have decided to take the plunge and keep discus. I have never attempted to keep them before as I have always heard how difficult they are. I have a well matured tank ready to stock containing all the right water conditions, plants and decor.

I have been looking at the discus for sale in aquarium stores and frankly, I do not like the quality or health of the fish on offer. I would like very much to buy from a local breeder. I am not particular about type of discus but more concerned on the quality and health.

I live in the Campbelltown area of Sydney, can anyone provide me with the details of a breeder I can buy stock from.

It's not easy to find good quality discus. You really need to go to a specialist aquarium shop where they have good quality stock, and can give you the right advice on keeping the king of the aquarium.

Two of the sponsors of this forum are in Sydney, have an excellent range of quality discus, and knowledgable staff who will put you on the right track.

Drop in and have a chat to Bec or Wayne at Xtreme Aquariums in Tarren Point, or Ron at Fishrock Aquariums in Eastwood.

Am from the campbelltown area as well, and there is really not much out here. They are all average, and over priced. (well thats what I think anyway) but Fishrock is great, its where I got my last batch, and are very happy with them
