:) G'day. Can you let me know what you guys use in your filters, cannisters especially. As I am buying 2x 1500ltr cheap cannisters which do not come with alot of media.
I hear bio balls are not very effective in cannisters as they require extra O2 for they bacteria to colinise them.
Thanks.

Personally i fill up my extra space with JBL Micromec, about $20 for a box if it and its easy to rinse, also comes with its own media bag so no issues there.
Otherwise the rest of the space is a couple of sponges for mechanical filtration.

Others on the forum use Matrix or Eheim, depending on their preferences and setup.

i use micromech or eheim, i find both equally good, just micromech is a biteasier to clean.

:)Thanks guys.
Can you tell me if Eheim classic 2213 and Eheim eco 2232 come with any media? I think I will go with Seachem Matrix and filter sponge.

2213 ships with media and taps, 2213 media is efhi substrat, not substrat pro like in the pro series. same surface area (450/L) just not in the round pellet shape as the pro. still works just as good. 2213 is an excellent buy.
