Well they fry are 5 days free swimming today.

I went to turn on the rest of my tanks lights and was shocked to see the tube covered in eggs.
Well the parents are guarding there eggs, the fry are feeding off the parents.
Is this at all normal?

I did not expect to see them laying for a while and when they did i thought the babies would be gone.

Since one day free swimming i have not lost any fry either.
only half a dozen fry but they are still all there.

Thanks in advance.
Jen

Is this the first time the pair has had fry?
i've had this happen before when too few fry hatch with a new pair, mine didnt want anything to do with raising the fry and just kept laying egs, they got it right eventually. hope you have better luck then me.

Yes it is there first time with free swimming babies.
But they are both taking care of the babies and eggs.
No problems

keep a very close eye on them as if the new eggs become wrigglers expect that they parents will munch the free swimmers if they get to close to the new babies it's a common thing this is why when you have free swimmers to remove the breeding cone and it can often stop the pair breeding again u maybe lucky e-nough that they dont get munched but i wont hold breath the best case would be the eggs are not fertile and they eat them and keep feeding the babies.
hope all goes well
