If anyone ever wanted to know if these are good to get, YES !

If your a hardcore puffer/aquarium person like me this is eventually a must have item. It kills free floating algae and all nasties/parasites. The bulbs last 11mos. of continuous, usage they will still glow but will not be effective anymore.

5w = 5-15gal tanks. (100-250gph)

9w = 20-45gal tanks. (100-250gph)

18w = 50-90gal tanks. (100-250gph)

36w = 100-150gal tanks. (100-250gph)

The pic below is a TetraPond 9w (With the canister filter gph at about 100gph.)

(Tetra's flow/gal rates are just for killing algae NOT nasties/parasites.) 8-)

Couldn't agree more garikfox.

UV's are an essential part of discus keeping equipment.

good stuff but i dont agree with 9 month,i put a few dozen in ponds and tanks this year and at work we use a 400w to treat 25000l a day,everything over 6 month is not efficent anymore.
