Hi all,

I seem to have developed a planaria problem. Just have a few questions about these worms..

1. Is it safe to put your hands in the water infested with them? Is it harmful to humans in a sense if came in contact.

2. How long can it survive without water?

Thanks!

Hi,

Its ok, I have found some answers

http://www.aquarticles.com/articles/management/Ali_Planaria_Worms.html

http://www.kokosgoldfish.com/nematodesandplanaria.html

http://members.optushome.com.au/chelmon/Planaria.htm

I understand that Flubendazole is effective on treating planaria. But I am not sure whether to try it after looking at this vid, http://youtube.com/watch?v=yLvU0MM5_fc

Maybe I will stick to the traditional way of clearing them..

I watched that video nono.

Was it the flubendazole or the acetone they mixed it with that caused the problems.

Acetone is what I used to use to remove my false fingernails. It dissolves them. Can't imagine it being any good for fish.

Thanks Merrilyn. I am wondering what product are you, or most members use to treat their water? For example during water change, or introduction of new fishes. I am currently using Oxy Cure. Its a product from Germany.
