i've just discovered that my gravel is leaching alcium into my water colum in one of my main tanks. i was wondering if you guys have a way of removion the calcium without having to go to al hte trouble of ripping ou the old gravel :?:

With the gravel in there whats the GH reading?

it it reading 35+ drops, i never got an actual reading because i give up before the colour changes

Stay away from quartz or white rocks as these will drastically increase gH.

Sorry Lachlan, at that rate, there's no solution but to remove your old gravel and add something new that won't affect your GH.

With no reading after 35 drops, your water must be like liquid rock.

buy one of the PVC tube that is about 1.5" big and suck the gravel out of the tank. Easy to do. You will need a big bucket to catch the water and gravel. 1.5" pipe can fill a bucket in few sec.
