Hi guys we have need of softening some of our water. The water currently has a Kh of 5 or 6.

Down in the shed we have some "Spa Water Softener" for our pool and it has an active ingredient of Boric Acid.

Is this ok to use in our tank?

Also noticed after doing a search on the forum this product FISH 101 Soften Water Poly - Resin 350gm at http://www.aquariumproducts.com.au/prod1355.htm can anyone tell us how long this lasts or if it is better than using the pool stuff.

Thanks again for your help ... up until this time never had to worry about softening water.
