Hi Guys just wanted to know whether my water specs are ok for when my young discus arrive and what should be the optimum specs.

PH 7.0
Amonia 0
nitrite 0
nitrate 0 to 0.25
KH 35.8ppm
GH 17.9 ppm

Don't look too bad, ph is a little bit higher then optimum, whats your temp?

yeah im with you illusn and the ph is a little high try and get it down to about 6.8 slowly .

thanks guys my temp is 29 degrees I know it should be around 30
also I have driftwood in my tank I have heard stories it causes the PH to change dramatically is this true.

Oh by the way its a barebottom tank 160 litres with driftwood with plants attached to the driftwood,

DRIFTWOOD WILL SOFTEN THE WATER AND GRADUALLY REDUCE THE pH BUT ONLY VERY SLIGHTLY, DEPENDS ON HOW "LEACHED" THE WOOD IS, ONCE IT STOPS LEACHIN TANNINS IT DOSN'T SEEM TO LOWER PH ANY FURTHER

i second that,personaly i dont like driftwood what do that but here in australia it seems to be normal and you dont get any other but i think thats ok.
29 is ok with plants.
