Hey all,

Well i got 'Waterlife Octozin' today and so begins my collection of discus meds. :)

Just a few questions about it.

On the label it says 'Add 1 OCTOZIN tablet per 22.5 litres on days 1, 2 and 3.' I worked out the amount i need for my tank is 1.7 tablets
So does that mean i add that dosage each day? So that after the 3 days i should have 1.7 x 3 = 5.1 tablets overall?
Seems alot but i dont' know anything about this medication so it could be normal.

Also says 'When using undergravel, internal power or external power filtration, use the normal dose, for any other filtration use half the stated dose'

I'm using 2 sponge filters so do i have to use half the stated dose?

Cheers for the help I'm just paranoid with the meds.

the tank is
60cm Length x 25cm Width x 25.5cm Height (Its taller but i only measured where i filled the water to)

60 x 25 x 25.5 = 38 250 Divided by 1000 = 38.250 Litres

38.250 Divided by 22.5 (the recommended dosage on the bottle) = 1.7 tablets

Thats what i worked out.

Thanks
Dan

put your 1.7 tabs  every day. before that do a large water change 80%. if you don't do the water change you'll probably get the ammonia spike that people have been getting.

better to fill the tank up and then medicate rather than dropping the water level, you'll probably end up using 10 tablets. better to treat all the fish you have together.

you do a big WC then add the tablets, day 2 another big water change then add tablets, day 3 yet another bog WC and add tablets. better to confirm with LR.

Update.

Today was the 3rd and last day of the treatment.

I'm pretty sure they should be clean now.

Still not eating the tetrabits but i think that is because they are kinda skittish since its only 2 of them.

I'm planning to do one final big water change to clean the system of octozin tomorow and then pump them with live brine shrimp.

I plan to move them to the 4 foot planted tank very soon I think it'll do them some good and build some confidence and that should get them to readily eat.

Cheers guys
