I bought my self a 2 inch Golden back in May and a 2 1/2 inch Bunga Raya in July.
Now I can't even tell the difference between them, I can still tell which one is which but as far as colouration, they look exactly identical.
Apart from the Bunga Raya which has more black speckle on the face, they look the same.
Even IMO the Golden, which when I bought it was quite yellow, now he seems to be slightly more redder than the Bunga Raya.
I will post some pics of the two as soon as I bought my Dig Cam, which is long over due.

A bunga raya is a pidgeon blood based red discus. A golden is a mutant form of brown discus that does not carry any dust or black markings. They are unrelated. By the sounds of it your golden is actually a golden pidgeon blood and if they are fed foods with red colorents in it sometimes they will turn a reddish or orange color.
