Great fish and great photo, West Africans are very under rated... :(

mate down here in melbourne there is about 50 breeders of these funny little critters
and you cnat give them away as feeders wich is a shame because they are awesome little characters
just rememeber they may like acidic water but the mineral content has to be half that of an african rift lake setup
made that mistake once when i had them lost 6 ut of ten

Hi Rob he does look like a grouper just real small. The shot came out a little bluer then it is a white balance problem or it could of been that the person converting the raw file was a bit intoxicated with 6 coppers green

Are you sure they are Steatocranus Tinanti and not the common Steatocranus casuarius lion head cichild which are breed everywhere ?
I ask because I find it funny that Steatocranus Tinanti are very hard to find in Sydney and I have not seen any for sale in Melbourne or on any of the forums :?
If there are so many breeders in Melbourne can you put me in contact with just one of them

thx

Hey tunnel rat or taksan, how do you take pictures where the background is completely black. I just bought an slr (canoon 400d) but dont know how to quite use it yet. To take a picture like that, do i need to use flash or should the aquarium lighting be really bright (ie metal halides)? Should i use high shutter speed or low and wot kind of aperture setting should i have. These might be really stupid questions but i really have no idea. Any help would be appreciated
