Do Diatom Filters filter out nutrients in a planted tank?

I have a Vortex diatom filter and was wondering if it will filter out the nutrients etc that I add to the tank.

it may do but i have one and i dont run it all the time it better to use it just to polish the water so i only run it one day a week or so .so any if you are useing nutrients just add them after you have run it for the time you are going too
