    Algae Cursed Discus Tank

    Hey,

As the title suggested, my discus tank is cursed with all kinds of algae.
You name it, you can find every algae in my tank.

Here are some pics to show a few major ones.
Can someone please help, what should i do?

I had a tank which went green recently. I did a few things. I replaced my gro-light tube (after about 6 months their spectrum becomes ineffective), I left the light off for a week, and I invested in an internal UV light and utilised it for that entire week. After a week of this my tank is now crystal clear.
check for ammonia/nitrites, some of the nasty coloured algae like it, maybe increase your filtration if you have high readings, leave your lights off for a few days and see what happens to the green algae, or at least lower your lighting time. Also you may want to try a UV filter, its a handy thing to have anyway. try feeding less, or lowering your bio load in the tank, as algae love high nutrient levels and if your nitrates are high, while not a bad thing for your plants, it will also facilitate green algae growth.
whatever you do, don't use the algae removers you can buy in the pet shops, they're pretty hard on the fish.
