Breeding Tubes
Hi Guys
for some time now i have tried to have a close look at the male and female breeding tubes
not many good pics are generally available as it is not easy to film these tubes during the spawning process.
newcomers to our forum have asked in the past how to identify the male from the female and , as far as i know anyway, looking at the tubes during spawning is about the only sure way.
as i have just bought a new camera (love those discus) i took it to task to sit in front of my spawning pair for 2 hours and just clicked and clicked and clicked some more....
the result was rewarding...i have made the pics pretty big so you can zoom in a little to see better.
Snake Skin mum and Eruption dad, spawned again and became the actors.
i have attached 3 pics for all of you to enjoy
Enjoy..........Jim

Are these proven breeders? As in raising fry to wigglers?
It might just be me having a blonde moment, but both those fish look female...
Tube looks really big on the eruption....
:P

That's a very virile male, with rather a large breeding tube, but you can clearly see the difference in the length of the tubes.
Best shot of a female breeding tube I've seen in a very long time.
