    Skin diseas ?

    Hello,

    I thought I posted this topic allready a few hours ago, but can't find it myself anymore, so probably I did something wrong, there for I post it again.

    A mail discus of one of my couples I noticed last week 3 circles on the skin, I thought the came of male/female things (you know what I mean)

    Anyway, todat I had a closer look again and noticed it looks worser...I have no idea what it is....I hope there is any one who has a idea what it is and how to treat it.

    Thanks.

    Photos would help more experienced members with a diagnosis.,

    Hi Jeroen, how big are the circles, and are they white or pale in colour. Is there a red ring around the outside of the circles?

    As Marg said, if you could post a picture, it would be very helpful.

    Anyway, here is the picture
    Some additional information:

    Ph = 6.6
    Kh = 1.0
    Gh = 3.0
    Us = 165
    Temp = 29.5
    No2 = 0.1

    Jereon,

    I have previously had some discus which had a similar symptom.

    The spots went away in about a week - that might just have been lucky for me.

    Just wait for LR to see what she reckons...

    Jeroen, it doesn't look too serious. It looks to be on the surface of the slime coating, and not into the skin.

    Just keep an eye on it. But I don't really thing it's anything to worry aabout.

    You don't happen to have a pleco in that tank do you? It almost looks like a suck mark from a pleco or some kind of catfish.

    Your water is perfect. No need to alter anything, and you're already doing daily water changes, so that will keep the bacteria count in the tank low.

    Keep us posted.

    Hi LR,

    Ok I keep an I on it...
    What you think, would it be a good idea to give the discus a saltwater treatment (10 minutes) this mostly kills lot's of things on the skin and helps to develop a stronger slimecoating (as I heard)

    Or shall I better wait ?

    i dont know if this could help so i will say it anyway

    I dont know what the smaller marks are but could it be that the discus got sucked into the intake, because once i had the intake cover off for like 5 mins because i was cleaning it and i noticed later that night one of my discus had a ring on its scale and i narrowed the possibilities down and decided that it was so stupid to get sucked into the intake.

    Mark,

    A saltwater treatment 10 mins refers to taking a bucket full of tank water out - dosing with 1-2 tablespoons of rock salt and having an airstone in there.

    You put the fish into this sort of setup when it is sick and it is a general cure.
