Ahhhhh Tank, it's necessary to exercise a little more patience

Before you think of getting rid of the male, wait till you see if the eggs are fertile. Screening the eggs will at least allow them to develop long enough for you to see if they are fertile.

If they are, well it's just a matter of time before they get their act together. If they're not, then you may need to give your male a bit longer to mature. Some of them seem to take ages.

Once they get things right, you'll have more fry than you know what to do with. :P

Good luck. I've got my fingers crossed for you
Thirty-five years keeping and breeding discus, and I'm still learning :P

    Tank give em time mate!
    Patience is the key!

Are they spawning every 8-12 days apart?

Some times the pair that eats their eggs for the first dozen times will be the best parents when they get it right!
As ladyred and your self suggested cage the eggs to see what happens and how many fertile eggs occur.

No diff between you and the asian breeders. We are all human and need to be patience....as mentioned by Ladyred and Ben.

You might assume that asia breeders may differ, but since they have so many brooders, they may not even be too bothered by this and a pair may go egg eating for 20 batches.....it's true.

I remembered once when I had 300 pairs of brooders....I only bother about the new strains and leave the common ones to do their job. They will keep on laying till they are successful. This of course include application of MB and mesh. They are the basics...never breed discus with them .

    Take care buddy,

    Hi Tanks

I had the same thing last year,so I pulled the female out and put some other females in the tank with him.But I ended up putting her back as she looked like she was going to die in the community tank went dark and stayed in the courner. They where apart for 10 to 12 day and she layed 2 days after putting her but and they raised the next 7 spawns so dont give up.

    hi tank

have experienced what you are going through.

dont give up they will come good.

give the mesh a shot if your runninh low of patience. Best i find to let them sort it out despite the time issue.

    give them time mate!

i know its hard but think.... discus are quicker to breed than sheep!

Keep up a good diet and lots of water changes and i am sure they will come through for you.

    cheers
