Hi Jim,
Extremely easy to replace. Simply disconnect the uv unit off the pump and connect a new unit/bulb.

Hi Jim,
To my knowledge they do both parasites and bacteria. We will always keep good stock of the bulbs.

Is there a significant difference between the capability of the internal & external varieties?
Reason i ask is the the 24W AA internal job says it's good for a tank up to 400L.
Whereas i find on the Aqua-hobby website (offering 20% discount) external/inline 6W UV steriliser good for up to 1890L tank!
This is a significant difference in claim. Does this have anything to do with the difference between 12V & 240V?

The 24w unit comes with a pump, which is rated to a specific flow rate. Whereas with external units you can add wht ever speed pump/powerhead you like (the more exposure time the better result).
Also you will find the external units are much larger, therefore being able to accomodate more water exposure.
On the other hand you must understand that claims such as 6w treats 1890L mainly relates to Algael control as well as some parasite control. To get total elimination of the nasties, a larger wattage, or very slow flow rate would be needed.
At the end of the day, either option, external or internal is far better than no protection at all.

i have two tanks i want to put UV Sterilisers on firtst-up. A 4x18x18, and a 3x18x18. The former utlises a 1000lph cannister, and the latter, a 600lph cannister. i also plan to shift them up a bit to be 1200lph, and 1000lph respectively at some point in the near future.
What type/size of UV steriliser would be my best/recommended option?
