Yea!! Eheim.. spraybar question..
Hi everyone..
just purchased my new Eheim and Im new to the canister filters, I can see it will take some planning, on placing of the valves hose length etc..
not like the OB filters just plug and go..lol..
My question is should ( has anyone ) ran the spray bar across to the other side of the tank intake at one end bar at the other. I was thinking of adding another spray bar, so it hit more water surface area.. its a 4 ft tank..

I am sorry, but I cannot really understand the question.

If you're asking if you should set the filter up so the inlet is at one end of the tank and the outlet at the other? My personal preference is to have both at the same end.

I've always gone with the spray bar at the opposite end to the outlet.
Even when I had an internal filter I attached a hose to the outlet, ran it to the other end of the tank and through a spray bar.

Spray bar at opposite end works best for circulation, just a pointer mount the taps as close to the canister body as possible, that way your servicing will be much easier.

Where I had my tanks made, they always said both the spray bar & the intake should be at the same end for best circulation.
But is that the question you're asking? Do you mean you'd like to extend the length of your spray bar, so it extends further across the length of your tank?

thanks for the replys..
sorry, re-reading it, does sound kinda funny..
..first thought was putting it just off side of the intake, but thought it would be better for circulation being over more, closer to the other end of the tank. Or adding another spraybar. Does anyone have more than 1 spray bar?
Most on here have 4 ft tanks+ do you only use 1..?
looks like some say its best close and others say off to the other end..
Certainly the Eheim 2217 will do just fine for a 77gal.
thought Id ask before setting up and cutting tubing first...etc..etc..
trying to avoid dead spots I think.. ...can someone elaborate on that a bit more for me..
thanks Sue

I ran 1 2217 on a 4ft tank with the intake at one end of the tank and the spray bar at the other. Worked fine with no problem with circulation.
I have a friend which is running a 2217 on a 3ft with the intake and spray bar at the same end but he has extended the spray bar to twice it's normal size.
This seems to be working fine.

thanks Bartek.. guess its just a matter of prefrence
with some.. Im thinking it would be better to have 2 bars, gosh it just seems so little, this 12 inch tube for a large tank..
just dont want dead spots..

thanks Illusn... for the tip... thought about that too.
Im figuring about 3-5 inches from the canister would be good..
