I am starting up a discus tank after not having one about five years ago. My new tank is a continuous flow system with a canister filter (w/UV) and an algae scrubber. The tank has, of course, an over flow drain. My water is sourced from a well and has a normal pH of 6.7/6.8 and a DH of 1 (KH of under 2.) The water was tested and has no pesticides nor nitrates. While I have had a number of discus tanks over the years, and once successfully breed a pair, I have only a modest knowledge of these fish and hope to learn a great deal more. No doubt some of my knowledge is out dated and again, I look forward to reading what people here currently consider best procedures for keeping these wonderful fish happy and healthy.
