    Diagnose needed please

Hi there, my mate had a problem with his top discus. Today it died and he's devastated.
    This is the story......

This discus was king of the tank. It ate well, socialised well and was very responsive to him.
About a week ago he noticed it was behaving different.
It hid, and lost its appetite and slowly faded in color. It didn't go dark though.
He maintains a strict regime with his water changes and his water parameters are spot on.
He has been in the game over 20 years and has had plecos close to 20 years old.
Although, he has not experienced this before. And wants to learn from this experience.
He worms with kusuri once a month also.
So anyway since this discovery he started medicating. Using sterazin, myxazin and finally protozin.
Not all at once and with a water change on the weekend.

If anyone has any idea what killed this fish could you please help. He has about 10 other discus aswell
and they're fine. It only took a week.
Here is the pic he took 10 mins before it gave up.

    Cheers
