    Hey there, I was just wondering if anyone knows what causes peppering?

    Hi there Mavzta , it often happens when pigeon bloods are in a planted or darker tank , if you have them in a bare plain tank lighter it is less, hope that helps

    Thanks Scott, was just a curious question.
    However, I was told today that a very light colored sand can cause peppering.
    Confused....

    It is a genetic trait that came along with the pidgeon blood genes. It is genetic whether your fish will get it, but yes tank conditions can effect how prominent it is deisplayed on your specimen.
