    Cross bracing for a 5x2x2

    Gday

Finally got my 5 footer. I used a glazier who made it out of 12mm and he did a good job, however there is no bracing across the top of the tank. Would this be required of a tank this size.

    Thanks

When you say no bracing do you mean there isn't a panel running front to back in the centre at the top? Some tanks just rely on the thin strip that runs along the top of the long panes that the lids sit on to stop the bowing and potential to break. I think 12mm is pretty good but I'm not an expert. I've seen a site that has wide range tank configurations and the required thickness of glass for fish tanks. I'll see if I can find it again.

Doesnt mention bracing but shows the glass thickness required.

Yeah sections of glass from front to back is what I'm asking about. The tank does have a 30mm strip all arfound at the top for lids so adding some front to back strips on top of this would not be difficult.
