Cleaning vegetable oil from waterchange drum
I bought a 200L plastic drum to use for preparing water before water changes. I was used for holding vegetable oil and still has some of the oily residue covering the sides and bottom.
Any ideas on how to clean it out?
Thanks

The drum I use had olives in it and I cleaned it with hot water and white vinegar.
Fill the drum about quarter full add vinegar, using a broom scrum the sides and bottom.
Put the lid on and roll the drum around then empty.
Remove the lid and allow to dry in the sun.
The cheap white vinegar is fine to use.
Think I used about six liters to about sixty of water.

I would use hot soapy water, take the drum to your hot water system, pull the pressure lever on the side u no that little pipe that's on the side.fill drum straight from their this will help get most of oil of as it floats.leave 4 1hr then empty.
Then fill drum 1/4 full add washing up liquid &clean once all oil is removed fill it with hot water, any remaining oil u should c floating on surface,u may need to repeat this process.
If u can turn your hot water system up to 70 degrees 24 hrs b4 hand.

Hot water and and a biodegradable soap would be my choice wash it out a few times with a pressure cleaner before and after and you should be done in an hour or so
