If someone compares your dicus to a sun fish

I had someone collecting from the red cross today, and I invited them in when they saw my tank ... the lady compared discus to a sun fish, my remark was I did not know what a sun fish was so I could not comment,

now googling I come up with this,

    http://www.oceanlight.com/html/mola_mola.html

Is this what she meant as I can not see the comparison ? But boy what an awesome looking fish.

Yeah thats a sunfish. I guess the shape is similarish.
I think they also hold the record for the most eggs laid. I think they lay something like 2 million eggs in one go..........Imagine discus laid that many

I'd have to say if they compared a discus to a "Sunfish" they have NEVER seen a sunfish or know what they are talking about.

What I think was meant was probably the bright red/orange on the fish.... somehow getting linked to the idea of errrm..... the sun?

    Magnificant creatures.
I was fortunate to see one while wreck diving in open ocean of Newcastle, Aus.
It was the size of a VW CAR!!!
I must admit, at the time i really thought there was something wrong with my gas or i was narced off my perverbial. I just could not believe my eyes, but will never forget the image.
