Tank aeration advice

I am setting up a new tank at the moment and had a question about aerating the tank.

I have seen many many pics of different tanks and they do not seem to have air stones or things like that running in the tank, how are you people aerating your aquariums or what is the best way?

Airation occurred via surface movement. You don't NEED an airstone but it's just a cheap simple way to do it. Some people use power heads or filter returns near the surface to allow air exchange and Airation
